Well, i had my 96 pearl white 5spd se since 8/96 and the first thing that went
were the wheels. In place of them were 17 x 8.5 O.Z. Racing Monte Carlo F1's
with a set of 235/45/17 Yoko avs's wrapped aroung them. Then went the factory
sound system and in went 3 jl audio 12w6 with 1 soundstream 10.0 amp pushing
the subs. As found sound up from there is Boston Pro 6.4.2 in all four
corners. The power for these speakers comes from 1 soundstream reference 404.
The source of all this comes from a alpine 7816 then to a 3311 eq. And this is
all protected by a Viper 800. With almost everything automated by remote, e.g.
windows up/down, sunroof open/close, turn on headlights remotely,
pager,CARJACKING, and to really get attention when the alarm is sounding
**STROBES** in each corner of the car.The car also has stillen chin
spoiler, grill, intake, exhaust, strut tower brace, and cross drilled rotors. Car
has been modded so that the fogs come on with the makers and also there are
side makers.besides all these mods it's completely stock!!! :)

First of all, I love this website! It's great. I own a '95 Maxima GXE auto.
I chose this model over the other two because it left me with money to make it
a little different from the others out there. It is dark blue with dark grey
interior. The first thing I did was tint the windows with 5% limo tint all
the way around. In Florida, it's legal!!! This makes a big difference in
both apppearance and comfort. Next, I replaced the factory air box with a K&N
filter charger, and put in some NGK platinum plugs. This allowed for quicker
throttle response. Next it was time for new wheels and tires. I chose 17x8
Konig "Villains" wrapped in 245/45/17 BFGoodrich Comp T/As. It's amazing how
much better the car looks and handles over stock. Of course, anything's
better than 15" steel wheels and hubcaps! For a little different look, I
painted the calipers with bright red lacquer. I've gotten a lot of "looks
good" from people. So far that is all of the mods I have made. Future plans
are: Eibach springs (to get rid of the fender gap), Tokico shocks and struts,
a Stillen rear wing, GReddy exhaust, brake and computer upgrades, a Stillen
throttle body upgrade, and after the extended warranty runs out in 2001, a
turbo kit from Jim Wolf or whomever else comes out with one by that time. The
only thing I am NOT happy with on the GXE is the top speed of 110mph. If
anyone knows why it is so much lower than the SE and how to overcome it, let
me know.

I have a 97 SE, fully loaded except ABS, purchased about 1 month ago. My future plans for it
include mods to the exhaust and intake a la Stillen. Maybe some suspension tweaking and new
17"s. Other than that, I'm not sure yet. The car is pretty f*@#in' killer straight outta the
box.

In January 96 I purchased this 96 Maxima
SE 5-sp, super black. The car came with mud guards, sunroof deflector, wheel
locks, and pin striping, which came off. From that point I added 16X7.5 Epic
Sonomas with 225/50VR16 Yoko A540's. Next I added a Stillen Air intake
filter and Stillen Exhaust. I cut the shifter 5 inches and added a Carbon
Fiber shift knob from Isotta, a Carbon Fiber dash kit, and Niken pedals.
Then I installed a Clarion cassette player with screen savers, Clarion CD
changer under the seat, Clarion 7 band EQ spectrum analyzer, two 6.5 JBL
components, two 6.5 JBL 2-ways, two MTX twelves, Punch 100 and a Kenwood
45X4. The next alteration was in the suspension where I added Tokico struts
and Eibach springs with a Stillen strut bar. I also installed a Stillen
grille. After that was completed I had the factory resonator cut out making
the Stillen exhaust a cat-back. Other non performance mods include blue
headlights and foglights, I rewired the foglights to come on with the parking
lights and stay on with the high beams, I removed the factory decals in the
rear revealing a more wider rounder rear end. Enjoy the ride.

Steve (Merbles@ix.netcom.com)
My name is Steve K. I currently have a blue 1995 Maxima SE 5-speed with
tan leather. My '95 blue SE is tinted real dark in the back, slightly
less in the front. It has gold plating on the locks, insignias, and the
antenna bezel. I have installed a very high end Pioneer stereo system
that I am told is very unique. I have the 7400 flip-down
cassette/tuner/controller with the detachable 9200
spectrum/dsp/soundfield controller. These both fit perfectly in the
space where I took out the Bose system. I installed a slave unit P77
single disk cd-player with a spectrum analyzer in the storage space
above the ashtray. One pioneer remote controls all three head units. I
also have a 12 disc 1220S changer in the back for a total of 13 CD's.
The front speakers have been replaced with oversized Rockford Fosgate 6
1/2 components, with the tweeters in the same location as the Bose. The
back speakers are Rockford Fosgate 6X9 200W speakers, and I kept the
Bose grills. A 10" SAS Bazooka tube is mounted in the trunk along with 3
MTX 280W amps to supply power to all the speakers. The alarm is custom
also. It starts with a Sidewinder alarm, with shock sensor, glass
sensor, starter kill, and trunk relay. This was wired inline with the
factory alarm to provide double protection while using only one remote.
I added a pager to the alarm which has about a 2 mile range and displays
what part of the car has been violated. I also installed an electronic
hood lock with a hidden switch that is independent of the other alarms
and has it's own starter kill. I've also added a rosewood dash kit
which looks much nicer than the wood on the GLE. My next step is to buy
rims, tires, and suspension. I'll try to send pictures soon.

The Maxima is my first car, and I love it.
Its a Black 97 5-speed with black leather, sunroof, bose, cd, etc.
Its all good now, but I saw one identical to mine, except it was fully
tinted, like really dark tint, maybe limo tint, and it had shiny chrome
rims on larger 17 inch wheels, and it was all gold trim. the MAXIMA on
the back, the two nissan insignias, and the antennae thingy and the
trunk keyhole were all gilded. It also had the mudguards which I did
not. That car looked so damn good. I swear I'm going to make my car look
identical to that, plus adding some wood trim inside.

I wanted to let you know how great your web site is first of all. I
have a '97 SE-5speed, Deep Evergreen, leather interior, BOSE sound
system with CD changer, sunroof, auto climate, etc... I haven't made any
modifications to my car other than making my SE into the GLE! I love
the car the way it is now to make any big changes to it but I have had
the windows tinted which really makes this car SHARP!!! I get a lot of
people asking me about this car, I fell very lucky to have it. I hope
to send you some pictures in the future, keep up the good work!!!

I am so glad I found your website. It's exactly what I'm looking for.
I have a 96 Maxima SE, auto; and I just love it. However, I feel it's
lacking the power a V6, 190HP can put out. It has terrible pick up.
From a stationary point, even a puny Hyundai can out run me from start,
even though I eventually catch up. I can also hear a slight ping in the
engine when I accelerate, especially going uphill. I have been using
nothing but premium gas (93 octane) the day I bought it. I took it to
the dealer, but they couldn't find anything wrong. I am just very frustrated at this lack of performance. Has anyone else
experience this particular problem? Any suggestions and/or comment
would be greatly appreciated.
Edward Adato (eadato@ix.netcom.com)
This is my 97 5 speed GXE (bad picture). I chose to do my own mods instead
of getting the SE (which was my last car, an '89 5 spd). I have switched
to Eibach springs, 17" Ronal wheels, Dunlop 235/45/17, exhaust tip (I'm
afraid of too much noise, and the car's fast enough anyways). I also took
out the air filter box, and got a new filter system; awesome music now
comes from the engine compartment at 3000 rpm and up.
With a new sound system, tinted windows and killer alarm system, I'm still
well under the price of a semi-loaded SE, and just as happy. I look
forward to finding more information on this fabulous car. Nothing comes
close on it's performance for the price. As the now famous saying goes:
"Enjoy the Ride". Absolutely !

I have a '97 Maxima SE 5-speed in super black. I lOVE THIS CAR! This
is my second Maxima in a year. I traded in my '96 Maxima GXE 5-speed
for the '97 SE because I liked the '97 better. The trade was worth it.
Currently I replaced the back speakers and put in Boston Acoustics
RX67's. They get a lot better sound quality and can reproduce lower
bass a hell of a lot better than the factory set. I am working on
getting GTS headlight covers, security system, and adding front
component speakers and an amplifier. I have complete faith in this car
because of the Maxima's reliability history. My dad had an '86 Maxima
GL which had to make it's first repair at 120,000 miles. Reliable? I
think so.

Hello fellow MAX lovers. I have a 96 Maxima SE 5Sp Pearl red with
36,000 miles on it. I received it as a company car in Jan of 96. When
I left the company I loved the car so much I bought it from them.
Thus far the only modifications that I have done is a Pioneer CD
player. I am currently in the market for new tires (practically bald
at 36,000 miles). I next intend to upgrade the computer, hi-flow
intake, custom rims and tint the windows.
Vince Mok (vcmok@ucdavis.edu)
I have a '96 Maxima GXE Auto. It seems to do reasonably well both at
the quarter mile track as well as autocrossing. It's been able to do
15.649 quarter mile runs just shy of 90mph. That's putting no money
into it! I've topped out at about 33mpg going to Tahoe non stop with 4
people and luggage with cruise set about 70-75mph... no bad! Only
problem is some big time tire wear. Does anybody have any problems with
noise coming from the powersteering or something when the car is cold
and the steering wheel is turned full lock to the left when starting off
in the morning? My car groans a little bit. Other than that, I agree
the paint chip easily, but the car is loads of fun, fast, economical,
and can sure take on those Integras and Civics off the line!
Curt Shumaker (curts@bgnet.bgsu.edu)
I own a 95 Maxima. The color is black emerald and has about 19k
on the odometer. It is an auto with every option except leather and Bose
stereo. The car is a jewel. The only gripe I have is with the
paint....it chips to easy and is hard to care for. Other than that it is
the best Maxima I have EVER owned. I have owned and 86',88',89'SE,
93'SE, 95'SE. This car blows the others away!
Dan Grostick (cyber.one@worldnet.att.net)
My '97 SE was purchased in late December '96. It is a fully loaded 5speed
(Bose, leather, roof) except for ABS.
So far (at 700 miles) it has worked perfectly, and arrived with zero sample
defects. I plan to install a front tower brace.
"Enjoy the ride" - I certainly do.
